New quake measuring 6.7 on the Richter scale has hit Russia’s Koryak Autonomous Area on the Kamchatka peninsula
A new quake measuring 6.7 on the Richter scale has hit Russia’s Koryak Autonomous Area on the Kamchatka peninsula, sources from the Far Eastern center of the Russian Ministry for Emergency Situations told Tass. According to early reports, there have been no casualties. “So far we have not received data on any new destructions,” the sources said. However, the situation in the autonomous area is being specified. Underground tremors were felt in the settlements of Korf, Tilichiki and Khailino, the same settlements that were hit in a major quake in the Koryak Autonomous Area a month ago. As a result, over 1,000 people were evacuated. Restoration work is underway in the region.
