The situation in Iraq and Iranian nuclear problem will be discussed by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov with the Kuwaiti leadership
The situation in Iraq and Iranian nuclear problem will be discussed by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov with the Kuwaiti leadership. The Russian minister will depart on Monday for the Kuwaiti capital from Riyadh within the framework of his tour of the Persian Gulf countries. Lavrov is expected to meet Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad al-Jabir al-Sabah, as well as the country’s Foreign Minister Sheikh Muhammad al-Sabah al-Salim al-Sabah. According to the Russian foreign minister, “Relations between Russia and Kuwait have been developing rather intensively.” “Our ties are on the rise and we are satisfied with them,” Lavrov pointed out. Touching upon the situation in the region, including developments around Iraq and Iran, the Russian minister stressed that “Moscow will be coordinating its steps with all countries of the region in settling the problems.” At the minister’s talks with the Saudi leadership the sides reached an agreement on the creation of a joint working group for issues of fighting against international terrorism. “I hope that this structure will hold its first meeting soon,” Lavrov stressed. Foreign Minister of the Saudi Kingdom Prince Saud Al-Faisal for his part highly assessed relations between the two countries. “Our contacts are also very successfully developing in the economic sphere and the hydrocarbons sector is of major interest,” he stressed.
