Clinical trials of a vaccine against bird flu on volunteers will begin on May 30 and end in the mid-August
Clinical trials of a vaccine against bird flu on volunteers will begin on May 30 and end in the mid-August, Russia's chief sanitary doctor Gennady Onishchenko said on Monday. The vaccine developed at the Mikrogen research and production enterprise will be produced in small batches, as it is based on non-human strain, he said. During five weeks of tests doctors will monitor and control the immune systems' reactions. According to the Influenza Institute under the Russian Academy of Sciences, fresh cases of H5N1 bird flu were registered in Egypt, Indonesia and some European countries from May 16 to May 22.
