Paulo Coelho visits Russia
Paulo Coelho is the second world-known writer who arrived in Vladivostok by rail. The first was Anton Chekhov. The Primorsky Territory's Governor Sergei Darkin told this to the writer when meeting with him. “There are a lot of your admires in the territory,” the governor said, expressing the hope the writer would have time to meet with readers and acquaint himself with the territory's unique nature. Although the schedule was tight, the governor expressed the hope the guest would have time for rest. Coelho noted in his turn he was captivated by the welcome Primorsky readers gave to him and expressed the wish to acquaint himself with Vladivostok and walk on foot on the soil. He said the contact was very important for him, adding that he felt on the Primorsky soil as at home. Coelho concluded his two-week Trans-Siberian railroad travel in Vladivostok on Tuesday. The writer met here with readers, and though he was tired of the long travel he did not refuse to give his autograph to anybody who asked. Admirers presented many gifts to Coelho, including a Primorsky malachite souvenir and a Vladivostok view painting. Coelho was expected to meet with reporters on Wednesday.
