Russian border guards have detained a foreign yacht near the mouth of the Kola Bay
Russian border guards have detained a foreign yacht near the mouth of the Kola Bay. The yacht The Michigan, flying the British flag, was stopped for violating border-crossing rules. There was one man on board - the yacht’s owner, the headquarters of the regional border guards department of the federal security service FSB in the Murmansk Region have told Itar-Tass. The owner of the detained yacht said that the purpose of his visit to Murmansk was commercial. He had been invited by a local company. He gave border guard officials the company’s telephone numbers, but there has been no answer so far. The investigation is continuing. If no representatives of the inviting side are found, the yacht will be expelled and taken out of Russia’s territorial waters in the Barents Sea. The affair involving the other yacht detained on Wednesday has cleared up. At the moment the vessel is outside Russia’s territorial waters and is heading for Murmansk. Its border crossing documents are in order.
