President Vladimir Putin and Serb Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica had a meeting at the International Economic Forum here on Tuesday. They discussed the situation in the Balkan Peninsula, some other international problems, as well as the relations between Russia and Serbia. “I am happy to have an opportunity to discuss problems of bilateral relations, the situation in the Balkan Peninsula in general and the Kosovo problem, especially in connection with the latest changes,” Putin said, opening his meeting with Kostunica. “It is very important for Russia to hear your opinion of our bilateral relations in the future and of the developments which took place in Montenegro. We would like to know what is your attitude to the situation and how you are going to build relations with your neighbours,” he added. Kostunica thanked Putin for the invitation to take part in the St.Petersburg Economic Forum. He reiterated Serbia’s willingness to settle all the problems that emerge in the country and the region in accordance with the principles of democracy and international law.
