Russia's Supreme Court has overturned the verdict for Magomed Salikhov
Russia's Supreme Court has overturned the verdict for Magomed Salikhov, who was found not guilty of committing the terrorist attack in Buinaksk in 1999. The Court ordered to reopen the investigation, thereby granting the petition from Dagestan prosecutors. In January 2006, Salikhov was cleared by a panel of juror of the main charge - the blasting of an apartment house and bomb-making. At that time, the jury only found him guilty of participation in illegal armed groups and use of forged papers. He was sentenced for these crimes to 4.4 years in a penal colony. Sixty-four people were killed and another 100 were injured in the explosion of an apartment house in Buinaksk on September 4, 1999.
