Vladimir Putin stated that there would be no attempt to restructure or revise the fundamental political policies of Russia
In his state of the nation address, President Vladimir Putin stated that there would be no attempt to restructure or revise the fundamental political policies of Russia. 'Adherence to democratic values is dictated by the will of our people,' he stressed. Putin expressed his regret that some view the strengthening of Russia's government as authoritarianism, but emphasized that the Russian government will continue to press forward in the changing world of international relations. Putin explained that it will be necessary to deepen relations with the CIS, EU, US, China and Japan. The conflicts of the 21st century require a united world community according to Putin. Putin stressed that despite the assassination of Chechen president Akhmad Kadyrov, Russia's position will stay unchanged and consistent. 'No one will stop us in our path of strengthening democracy, providing rights and freedoms of man,' he declared. Putin remains convinced of the need for strengthening an antiterrorism coalition. Furthermore, in foreign policy Russia will pay specific attention to information sharing, further integration in world agriculture, and specifically to entering the WTO. According to Putin, Russia must increase exports, strengthen the role of Russian companies abroad, and attract investors.
