The Foreign Ministry said “the irremediable” has most likely happened to the kidnapped employees of Russian embassy in Iraq despite all measures taken for their liberation
The Foreign Ministry said “the irremediable” has most likely happened to the kidnapped employees of Russian embassy in Iraq despite all measures taken for their liberation. “No matter what slogans and references to religious motives the terrorists use as a cover, they are subhuman without honesty, conscience and faith,” the ministry said in a statement. It demanded that the Iraqi leadership and the command of the multinational force in Iraq “exert every effort to ensure that none of those involved in the crime against our citizens escapes justice.” “The coalition force bears responsibility for security in Iraq, including for the protection of foreign diplomatic missions and their personnel. We have repeatedly appealed to the command of the foreign military contingent, insisting that proper measures be taken,” the document said. “At this time of hardship we have to admit that Iraq has become an arena of terrorist actions that target not only foreign representatives but primarily ordinary Iraqi citizens. In order to prevent new tragedies so that Iraq could once again regain stability and security, it is necessary to struggle for national accord and consolidation of all Iraqis irrespective of their ethnic and religious background,” the ministry said. “Truly collective international assistance to the political process in Iraq is also needed. Unilateral schemes of political settlement have so far failed to produce any result, and the situation in the country kept on deteriorating, thus exacerbating threats to innocent people,” the statement said. On Sunday, the Majlis Shura al-Mujahideen group, which is linked to Al-Qaeda, made a statement through the Internet on the execution of four Russians.
