Aeroflot to get first Il-96-300 liner on lease terms in 18 months
The Ilyushin Finance Company will provide the first of a total of six Ilyushin-96-300 wide-fuselage liners to the Russian airlines Aeroflot on lease terms in eighteen months, a news conference was told on Wednesday. Earlier in the day Aeroflot and IFC exchanged contract documents. The other five planes will be provided at one-month intervals. The planes are produced by the Voronezh aircraft building company. The new generation Ilyushin liner will meet the toughest international safety, noise and ecology requirements. Deputy Prime Minister Boris Alyoshin who attended the news conference described the contract as an event of tremendous importance for the aircraft building industry and the services industry. The Ilyushin-96-300 liners will be built in two alternations – business class and economy class versions. For the first time ever planes of Russian manufacture will have special passenger business class compartments with recliner chairs Cocoon that can be easily transformed into a bed. The chairs will be placed at 1.5-meter intervals providing the maximum level of comfort. The six Ilyushin-96-300 planes already in Aeroflot’s service will be upgraded and equipped with advanced navigation instruments. This work will begin next year.
