The 30-day ban on fishing in boundary waters of the Amur River both for Russia and China has been lifted
The 30-day ban on fishing in boundary waters of the Amur River both for Russia and China has been lifted, a source at the Birobidzhan border detachment told Itar-Tass on Tuesday. It is aimed to protect from poaching the population of great Siberian sturgeons breeding in the Amur River. Russian and Chinese border guards controlled the implementation of and compliance with the ban during joint raids. Fishermen complied with the ban along a 500-kilometer section of the Amur River within the boundaries of the Jewish Autonomous Region, although several violations were registered.
