Ukraine's foreign ministry said Monday that a second group of Ukrainian nationals was being evacuated from the Lebanese capital
Ukraine's foreign ministry said Monday that a second group of Ukrainian nationals was being evacuated from the Lebanese capital, Beirut, following massive overnight strikes by Israeli missiles. The 520 evacuees are now moving toward the border with Syria in a motorcade comprised of 14 coaches, several embassy cars and an ambulance, the ministry said in a news release. Three planes will pick them up in the Syrian coastal city of Latakia (Ladhiqiyah). "In response to a request by the Ukrainian Embassy and other diplomatic missions accredited in Israel, the Israeli side guaranteed that... Israel's defense forces would not hinder the evacuation of foreign nationals from Lebanon," the ministry said. More than 100 people have been killed in Lebanon since violence erupted in the region six days ago.
