Opposition blocs in Ukraine's parliament could form a shadow government
Opposition blocs in Ukraine's parliament could form a shadow government, a member of the pro-presidential Our Ukraine bloc said Tuesday. An "anti-crisis" coalition of the pro-Russia Party of Regions, the Communists and Socialists was formed July 7 and will begin work Tuesday. The Yulia Tymoshenko Bloc said it did not acknowledge legitimacy of the new coalition and urged the president to dissolve the Supreme Rada and hold new elections, also calling on the Our Ukraine party to stop all talks with the coalition and join the opposition. "We have announced today that we are switching to opposition, and being opposition means that a shadow Cabinet will be formed," Mykola Katerynchuk said, adding that Our Ukraine representatives were ready to work in parliamentary committees. "This is how we will be able to influence the [Supreme] Rada's activities," he said.
