Russian companies and experts are expected to participate in designing and producing a new family of long-range Airbus passenger jets
Russian companies and experts are expected to participate in designing and producing a new family of long-range Airbus passenger jets, a spokesman for the European aviation giant in Russia said Wednesday. "The new family of A-350 XWB airliners will use mainly Russian-made titanium alloys," Alexander Bocharov said during the Farnborough International Airshow underway in southern England. "In addition, Russian experts and aircraft-manufacturing companies will participate in the design and production of the entire range of these aircraft, from the 270-passenger A-350-800 to the 350-passenger A-350-1000." Bocharov said the new A-350 family planes would be put in service by 2012. Their main features include their long range, of up to 15,800 kilometers (over 10,000 miles), high level of fuel efficiency, and increased level of comfort. The official said 14 airlines around the world had ordered 182 planes of the A-350 family so far.
