Govt plans interventions on grain market
Russia is planning interventions on the grain market in the second half of January, Vice-premier, Agriculture Minister Aleksei Gordeyev told Itar-Tass on Wednesday. Russia has fully integrated into the world grain market, including the level of prices, he said. Russia fully meets its internal demands at the expense of its own resources. However, the situation in Ukraine, Moldova and a number of countries of Europe is rather problematic because of grain production shortages there. Therefore, the government should strictly control the situation on the domestic grain market, Gordeyev said. In this connection, Russia has recently imposed import duties worth 25 euros per ton on grain taken out of Russia. In January, Russia is planning grain interventions, using its grain resources (1.6 million tons). Concrete terms for the trading are being specfied, Gordeyev said.
