Alrosa said Monday its net profit was 2.6 billion rubles ($97.5 million) in April-June, a 19.4% rise from the first quarter of the year. Russia's biggest diamond producer said the growth had been due to an increase in sales proceeds and revenues from participation in other organizations. Alrosa is one of the world's biggest diamond mining companies, accounting for 25% of overall production in monetary terms. The company's major shareholders are the Federal Agency for the Management of Federal Property (37%), the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), where it is based, (32%) and staff (23%).
