"The helicopter fell to earth in central Uvat near the administration building, just 2 kilometers from the landing site," regional prosecutors said. According to eyewitnesses, "the aircraft plummeted onto a local resident's garden from an altitude of 50 meters." The MD-600 which belongs to the Barnaul sport aviation club, was used by the Stroimontazh company, based in Yugorsk. The pilot and one of the passengers were seriously injured in the accident. A technician and the second passenger sustained medium grave injuries. The second passenger is reportedly a Stroimontazh executive. "According to the victims, they were inspecting the operable condition of a pipeline," the regional prosecutor's office said. Efforts are underway to establish the cause of the accident. Meanwhile, the prosecutors intend to look into legitimacy of the use of the helicopter. MD-600 is popularly viewed as an elite aircraft, and, according to the manufacturer, one of the safest in the world. Russia has imported just several such helicopters.
