Famous Spanish tenor Jose Carreras will give a one-off solo concert in Moscow on June 3
His performance at the Moscow International Music House to be accompanied by the Russian National Philharmonic Orchestra will become a peculiar completion of a series of recent Moscow concerts by great tenors Luciano Pavarotti and Placido Domingo. Spanish David Jimenes will conduct the orchestra tomorrow. "I think performing in such a city as Moscow is a great honour to any artist. My giving a one-off concert does not mean I will not be back here with concerts again - I will soon," Carreras told the press on Wednesday. "The concert will include the works the Russian audience is expecting from me. It cannot be called purely classical but hopefully I will be able to return to Moscow with an opera programme soon," he stressed. On Thursday, the famous tenor will be singing arias from operas and operettas, popular folk songs and works from his new solo album Energia whose presentation was recently a great success in Germany. In addition to works by foreign composers, such as Strauss, Verdi, Costa, Carreras will sing Tchaikovsky's "Legend". Carreras last visited Moscow in December 2002 - he performed at a gala concert with Placido Domingo, Emma Chaplin and Sissel then.
