Vladimir Putin sent a greeting to participants and guests at the 15th Russian film festival Kinotavr
Vladimir Putin sent a greeting to participants and guests at the 15th Russian film festival Kinotavr which opened yesterday in Sochi. The President's press service informed that the greeting, in part said, 'In the past 15 years this forum has become one of the significant events of the country's cultural life. It has given us new names, many interesting film-related activities, and promoted the popularization of national films. It is gratifying that Russian cinema today is on the rise. This rich and diverse festival is a testimony to this.' The president is sure that viewers are waiting to see bright, original works. The grand opening of Kinotavr, located on the main Theatrical Square in Sochi, was under the direction of two festival presidents-Oleg Yankovsky and Mark Rudinshtein, both of whom, incidentally, have already announced their retirement after the festival. They both feel that authorities are indifferent to the festival. In addition, directors have voiced their opinions that Kinotavr needs fresh people and ideas. 17 new pictures will be shown at Kinotavr which runs through June 15.
