Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Fradkov called for a tougher stance against those engaging in profiteering from climbing prices of petroleum products. Director of the Federal Antimonopoly Service /FAS/ Igor Artemyev, responding to Fradkov's statement at the Cabinet meeting on Thursday, said his department had already sent a document to the Moscow Fuel Association on illegitimate statements on this theme by the head of this organization. Minister of Economic Development and Trade German Gref suggested another meeting between the Ministry of Industry and Energy and oil producers over increasing prices of fuel and lubricants. He noted that the price hikes are caused by objective factors - an increase in wholesale prices of oil and petroleum products. The government has an opportunity to control the situation without an intervention by anti-monopoly officials, Gref said
