Four Russian soldiers were killed and five wounded as the result of an attack on a military column in the Itum-Kalinski region of Chechnya. Rebel fighters staged an ambush yesterday evening in the village of Ushkala, firing on the military vehicles with automatic weapons and grenades. Reinforcements were dispatched to the scene of the fighting. According to preliminary reports, the rebel forces also suffered dead and wounded. A special operation to locate and destroy the rebels is currently underway in the area.
