Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a decree awarding orders and medals to a large group of Russian scientists, teachers and heads of research and educational institutions. Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, director of the fiber optic research center under the A.M. Prokhorov Institute of General Physics Yevgeny Dianov has been awarded the Order for Services to the Fatherland, IV Class, for "a considerable contribution to the development of domestic science and many years of fruitful work," the Kremlin press service reported on Friday. Director of the state-owned Institute of safety problems of nuclear power engineering development Leonid Bolshov, and RAN Corresponding Member, deputy director of the Inter-departmental Supercomputer Center Alexei Zhizhchenko have been awarded the Order of Honor each, for achievements and conscientious work. The Order of Peoples' Friendship will be awarded to Eduard Kolchinsky, director of the St. Petersburg branch of the C.I. Vavilov Institute of History of Natural Sciences and Technology, Nikolai Skatov, director the Russian Literature Institute /Pushkin House/ and Gennady Sokolenko, first deputy chairman of the committee on education of the St. Petersburg government. The Order For Services to the Fatherland, II Class, will be handed in to Anatoly Burmistrov /deputy director of the Institute of Professional and Advanced Training of the Russian Academy of Civil Service under the Russian president/, Stanislav Dolbilin /chief geologist of the Zelenogorskgeologiya Ural branch of the Urangeologorazvedka state-owned company/, Alexander Kapustnyak /deputy director of a department of the Federal Service for Supervision in the Sphere of Education and Science/, Tatyana Korotkaya /leading specialist of the Novoagansk village administration, Nizhnevartovsk district, Khanty-Mansi autonomous Area-Yugra/, and Dmitry Rezun, /sector head of the Institute of History, United Institute of History, Philology and Philosophy of the Siberian branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences/. A medal For Saving the Dying has been awarded to Birobidzhan resident Alexei Lunev /Jewish Autonomous Region/. A group of scientists and specialists were awarded honorary titles "Merited Scientist of the Russian Federation," "Merited Meteorologist of the Russian Federation, "Merited Higher Education Teacher of the Russian Federation," "Merited Teacher of the Russian Federation" and "Merited Lawyer of the Russian Federation."
