Police officer house attacked in Chechnya on first New Year day
A group of armed gunmen attacked the house of a Chechen police officer in the Staropromyslovsky district of Grozny on the first day of the New Year, Tass learnt on Friday at the press centre of the Russian Interior Ministry for the North Caucasian region. A group of men, numbering 11-12, in masks and camouflaged uniforms with submachineguns, stormed into the house of an officer of the Chechen Interior Ministry on Thursday evening. Using the chance that the house owner was absent and threatening with weapons the father of the police officer, bandits, grabbed personal belongings, 8,000 roubles and the officer’s submachinegun and ammunition. Then, they escaped in four cars. According to the police officer’s father, the attackers spoke Chechen. An investigation was instituted in connection with the crime; inspection is also underway at the workplace of the Chechen police officer.
