Eleven more children have been hospitalised over the past 24 hours in the city of Stary Oskol in the Belgorod region with food poisoning symptoms, increasing a total number of the affected to 114. A regional health department official told ITAR-TASS that most were primary school children from the city and rural districts. Stary Oskol deputy mayor Yuri Romashin said poisoning was tracked down to substandard dairy products, in particular kefir, was catered to school cafeteria from Korochansk dairy factory. Regional sanitary authorities said checks had revealed production technology violations at the factory. Besides, kefir with an overdue shelf life was supplied to shops. The factory has been excluded from caterers of schools. The city administration’s senior official Alena Moroz said that the children withy food poisoning were past danger. Medics are making door-to-door visits in neighbourhoods where infection could be contracted. Anticipatory monitoring of 238 school students has been begun.
