Russia is interested in a more active presence in Ukraine’s steel, high technology and reprocessing sectors
Russia is interested in a more active presence in Ukraine’s steel, high technology and reprocessing sectors, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Fradkov said. He told a news conference after his talks with Ukrainian Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovich on Friday that Russian businessmen were having problems trying to invest in several sectors of the Ukrainian economy. This situation is “costs of the past two years”, when coordination between the two countries in fact broke off, an intergovernmental commission did not work and there were no conditions for increasing investment and the cooperative activity, PRIME-TASS cited Fradkov as saying. “We would like to be more actively present in metallurgy, in the high technology sphere and in the reprocessing industry,” he said. He added that “Ukrainian companies in turn may be interested in investment in Russia”. The current good situation in the two countries’ relations is favourable for the search of mutually acceptable decisions on all issues. “We would like this integration to be deeper and to be on a larger spectrum of cooperation,” Fradkov said.
