In the near future Moscow and Tbilisi will resume talks on the deployment terms and functioning conditions of Russian military bases in Georgia
Eight round of the relevant negotiations have been already held, official spokesman for the Russian Foreign Ministry Alexander Yakovenko told journalists commenting on Georgian Foreign Minister Salome Zurabishvili's statement on the withdrawal of Russian military bases from Georgia. "The formation of anti-terrorist centers using the infrastructure of the withdrawn bases was already discussed during Georgian Prime Minister Zurab Zhvania's visit to Moscow. I assume that this dialogue will continue in the near future," Mr. Yakovenko noted. There are two Russian military bases in Georgia today: in Akhalkalaki (on the Armenian-Turkish-Georgian border) and in Adzharia (an autonomy in Georgia).
