Gazprom’s subsidiary Gidrospetsgaz has begun engineering and exploration works in the Altai Republic
Gazprom’s subsidiary Gidrospetsgaz - the general designer of a future West Siberia-China pipeline – has begun engineering and exploration works in the Altai Republic, the deputy prime minister of the republic’s government, Robert Paltaller, told Itar-Tass on Monday. The yet-to-be Altai trunk line will stretch over 500 kilometres via four districts of the republic to the trans-border Kanas, he said. Gazprom will inject two billion roubles into the construction project during five years. It pledged to supply gas to all villages of the Altai Republic. Annual tax revenues to the local budget from the use of the Gorno-Altaisk section of a pipeline are estimated at three billion roubles – half of the republic’s annual budget. Russia plans to export to China 80 billion cubic meters of gas a year. The project costs 11 billion U.S. dollar. The launch is scheduled for 2011.
