Russian President Vladimir Putin and British Prime Minister Tony Blair pointed out the high level of bilateral relations and claimed their intention to develop them in the future. "We have recently boosted contacts in all spheres," Vladimir Putin announced at the meeting with the British premier during the G8 summit. According to the President, Russian-British trade turnover grew by 28% against the same period in 2003. "Great Britain holds the first place in current investments into Russia. This is good," Mr. Putin said. In his words, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Ivanov will visit London in July. Moreover, British foreign secretary is expected to arrive in Moscow soon, he added. Tony Blair expressed admiration with Russian-British relations. We boast firm bilateral relations in all spheres, he said adding that the UK was happy to have the first place in investments into Russia. The Russian and British leaders are to discuss a wide range of bilateral and international issues.
