A delegation of the Sinopec arrived at the Vityaz offshore oil production complex on Friday
A delegation of the Chinese State Development and Reform Commission, as well as representatives of Sinopec, arrived at the Vityaz offshore oil production complex on Friday. Sakhalin Energy's press service reported that the members of the delegation, which is led by Vice Chairman of the State Commission Jiang Weixing, were familiarized with the complex' operation. "There was clear and dry weather, which is rare on the Sea of Okhotsk in this season, during the Chinese's visit to the Molikpak ice-free platform - the main part of the complex," a source said. He said that oil is pumped from the platform to the floating storage tanker Okha, which can hold 110,000 metric tons. The crude then goes to customers, like China. On Saturday, June 12, the Chinese delegation will visit Prigorodnoye in southern Sakhalin, where Sakhalin Energy is building a liquefied natural gas plant, which is expected to produce 9.6 million metric tons of natural gas a year and will start supplying Japan with natural gas in 2007. Yesterday, Kyushu Electric, a large Japanese cooperation, signed a contract with Sakhalin Energy to purchase 500,000 metric tons of liquefied natural gas a year beginning in 2010. According to the press service, Sakhalin Energy was continuously studying the Asian Pacific markets, including China's large market
