U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said Tuesday she is generally satisfied with the progress of relations between the U.S. and Russia and hopes the sides will manage to produce an agreement this year on the terms of Russia’s accession to the World Trade Organization. As she answered a question from Itar-Tass in the White House, Rice said this year evidenced many goods developments on a big number of issues in relations between the two countries. She recalled that she has just visited Moscow, where the Russian officials and she discussed the situation around North Korea’s nuclear endeavors. Rice also voiced the hope bilateral contacts will be equally good as regards Iran and Afghanistan. She admitted that, naturally, Washington and Moscow do not have consent on absolutely everything but said it cannot be otherwise in relations between the powers as huge as the U.S. and Russia.
