Sergei Lavrov sees no big problems that might hinder full normalization of Russia’ s relations with Latvia and Estonia
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov sees no big problems that might hinder full normalization of Russia’ s relations with Latvia and Estonia. Speaking at a meeting of the Russian-EU Partnership Council on Friday, Lavrov said relations in the economic sphere were developing steadily. “The process of coordination of trading and economic cooperation agreements and of creating bilateral inter-government commissions has continued for the past few weeks,” Lavrov said. “As far as politics is concerned, Moscow would like to see the observance of human rights and minorities in Latvia and Estonia in full conformity with what is said in the joint statement Russia and the European Union adopted in April 2004. In practical terms this means that both countries must follow the recommendations formulated by the OSCE commissioner on minorities and the CE commissioner for human rights.”
