Russia's top 30 banks saw their assets grow by 29.3% in the first nine months of 2006 to reach 8.465 trillion rubles ($317 billion) as of October 1, the Central Bank said Wednesday. The banks' profits increased 29% year-on-year during the reporting period to 189.495 billion rubles ($7.1 billion). As of October 1, the share of low-risk credit in the total volume of lending by the banks was 39.76%, against 37.72% on January 1. Moderate-risk loans accounted for 50.07% (50.34%); significant-risk loans, 7.96% (9.73%); and high-risk loans, 2.21% (2.21%).
