Russian Moslems suggest that death sentence passed on Saddam Hussein should be mitigated to life imprisonment
Russian Moslems suggest that death sentence passed on Saddam Hussein should be mitigated to life imprisonment, Damir Gizattulin, the deputy chairman of the Moslem Board of the European part of Russia, told reporters on Monday. “If Saddam Hussein is executed, the situation in Iraq may get out of control; there is a danger of civil war, and this will lead to irreversible consequences,” the mufti said. “However Saddam Hussein’s activity may be assessed, we live in conditions of contemporary democracy, so capital punishment should not be executed but should be mitigated to life imprisonment,” Gizattulin said. ” I feel sorry for him,” the Russian mufti said.
