The Magnitogorsk metallurgical plant is bidding the last farewells to its workers, who died in a fire that broke out in a shop of the plant. The day of mourning is declared in the Chelyabinsk region. The state flags are half-masted on the administrative buildings, entertainment programmes in theatres and the palaces of culture, on the local television and radio are cancelled. “I express my sincere condolences to the families of those killed,” Viktor Rashnikov, the president of the managing company of the metallurgical plant, said. “We will render comprehensive support to the families of deceased and injured workers,” he pointed out. Rashnikov expressed “gratitude on behalf of the plant’s personnel to all people, who participated in the elimination of the crash, for their operational and highly professional work.” “Our priority is a detailed and deep analysis of the incident in order to avoid similar incidents in the future. At present, a plan of optimal redistribution of workflows is drafted and is being implemented that allows the plant to preserve the total production volume and meet fully all contractual commitments for consumers,” he pointed out.
