The funeral of priest Andrei Nikolayev and his three daughters will be held in a cemetery in the settlement of Vasilkovo in the Tver reign on Tuesday, the local administration told Tass. Archpriest Anatoly Volgin, who several years ago helped late Father Andrei take Holy Orders, will deliver a service for the repose of the dead. The local fire fighting service was put on alert overnight to December 2 and summoned to the village of Dalekushi, where the priest's house caught fire. The firefighters arrived to see a collapsed roof and ceiling supports, and a central part of the house already burnt down. The remains of the family were found under the ruins. The Russian Interior Ministry set up an operational headquarters for an investigation into the family's death. Acting Chief of the Criminal Investigation Department of the Interior Ministry Lieutenant-General Iskandar Galimov was put in charge of the investigation. Prosecutors in Russia's Tver region have opened a criminal case into the death of priest Andrei Nikolayev and his family. A criminal case was opened on charges of "murder committed by method posing common threat. " Regional Governor Dmitry Zelenin has brought the investigation under personal control. "If it was an atrocious crime, the criminals responsible should be severely punished. Notwithstanding Christian leniency such crimes are never forgiven," Zelenin said. "I appeal to law enforcement bodies, asking to thoroughly investigate the crime and get the best experts take part in the investigation," the governor said. The Tver Diocese Council released a statement in connection with the death of the priest and his family; the atrocious murder shook leaders of traditional religious confessions in Russia, it said. The murder was described as "horrid" in a special statement issued by Russia’s Mufti Council. Commemoration services for Orthodox priest Andrei Nikolayev, who tragically died on Sunday, have been held at Orthodox cathedrals in Moscow on Tuesday. Andrei Nikolayev, Father Superior of the Trinity Church in the settlement of Pryamukhino in the Tver region and his three daughters were burnt alive in their house overnight to Sunday.
