This generation of Russians is not responsible for the Great Famine in Ukraine in 1932-9133, State Duma First Vice-Speaker Lyubov Sliska said in Kiev on Tuesday. “For some reason everyone wants Russia to apologize for something. Me personally have never harmed anyone, and neither has my generation,” she said following the seventh meeting of the Russia-Ukraine interparliamentary cooperation commission. “People guilty of the Great Famine are already dead. One can read about them in archives, protocols and textbooks,” Sliska said. The tragedy happened when Russians and Ukrainians lived in one and the same state, “and both peoples suffered great damage in that period and later on,” she said. The Ukrainian parliament defined the Great Famine of 1932-1933 as genocide of the Ukrainian people on November 28.
