The United States continues to highly appreciate its partner relations with Russia
The United States continues to highly appreciate its partner relations with Russia, while the relations of the presidents of the two countries are based on mutual respect. Tony Snow, official spokesman for the White House, confirmed it on Tuesday, commenting at the request of Itar-Tass on the article, published by The Washington Post, which said, among other things, that George W. Bush had expressed on many occasions in confidential conversations profound disillusionment with his Russian counterpart. Snow said he was rather sceptical about the quoting of the words of Bush from hearsay. He himself has first-hand information on the matter. Commenting on the relations between the Russian and American leaders, Snow said: “I have talked to the President about this … Sometimes they (Putin and Bush) disagree, but they have a relationship that’s built on mutual respect and they do feel comfortable being completely honest with each other … Which is as it should be between the leaders of two major powers.” Responding to the question about whether or not he could imagine any circumstances under which the President could have said what is attributed to him, Snow said: “No. I have never heard him say this. And I’ve been in enough private conversations with the President. Obviously, U.S.- Russian relations remain a very important priority for us.”
